Derby County defender, Fikayo Tomori at the weekend served a strong warning to his parent club, Chelsea, with a top-notch performance ahead of their clash in the Carabao Cup, footballlive.ng reports.
Following a clearance by Chelsea to allow the Nigerian-born defender play against them in the upcoming match, Tomori showed what he can do versus The Blues by hitting super form for The Rams’ 1-1 draw away to Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
The England under-21 defender was named man of the match from the encounter at Riverside Stadium, where he enacted 80 touches, five clearances, two blocks, two tackles and six possession moments.
Chelsea have permitted Tomori to feature against them, in order to aid his development playing against them, and he will now be expected to be at his best when The Blues host The Rams on Wednesday.
Since joining Derby on loan from Chelsea in August, Tomori has played every minute of all seventeen matches in all competitions, but he has not played for The Blues’ first team since making his professional debut against Leicester City on the final day of the 2015-16 season.
