Nigeria’s Super Falcons defender Tosin Demehin has announced her departure from Stade de Reims after two seasons with the French club.
Demehin, who joined Reims in 2022 from Rivers Angels following her stint with the Falconets at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, shared her farewell message on social media, expressing her gratitude to the club and its supporters.
In her post, Demehin wrote: “After amazing years & seasons in Reims, I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to share and be part of those moments with you”.
I want to thank the President, coaches, club staff, medical teams and especially my teammates who have become family for the belief and hard work that resulted in an unforgettable Championship.
To the fans, thank you for the support through difficult and simple times. Reims is a special place and now I understand what Remoises means.
I wish everyone another successful and amazing season, ‘Allér Rouge. Merci beaucoup pour tout”, she wrote.
During her time at Reims, Demehin made 26 appearances and scored once.
Her rise in European football began after she captained Nigeria to the quarterfinals of the U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, which attracted interest from several European clubs. She eventually signed for Reims alongside her teammate Rofiat Imuran.
Demehin has also become an integral part of the Super Falcons squad, starting in all of Nigeria’s matches at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and this summer’s Paris Olympics. She participated in the 2024 Olympics as well, although Nigeria did not advance past the group stage.
While Demehin’s next destination remains unknown, her contributions to both club and country have left a lasting impact.
