Troost-Ekong, Joel Obi May Not Play DR Congo Game

Date:

Bursaspor of Turkey defender, William Troost-Ekong and Torino of Italy midfielder, Joel Chukwuma Obi are both in doubt to feature for the Super Eagles in a friendly against DR Congo on Monday, as they are nursing injuries.

Feelers from the Eagles’ camp in Uyo reveal that Troost-Ekong and Obi both copped knocks in training at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo and are now doubtful for Monday’s friendly in Port Harcourt.

KAA Gent of Belgium winger, Moses Simon has already been ruled out of the game in The Garden City, and will undergo a scan to determine the extent of a thigh injury he suffered in training on Thursday.

The Eagles moved to Port Harcourt on Saturday, after a two hour trip by road from Uyo, where the team had been training since Tuesday.

Expectations are rife that several fringe players, including NPFL hotshot Junior Lokosa and Serie A revelation, Simeon Tochukwu Nwankwo (Simy) are expected to feature against DR Congo.

Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr announced on Friday that he will drop five players after Monday’s match, before the team fly out for another friendly against England at Wembley Stadium, London on Saturday, June 2.
