Bursaspor of Turkey defender, William Troost-Ekong has named his baby Oscar, after his girlfriend was delivered of the couple’s first offspring at the start of this week.
The former Tottenham Hotspur of England youth team player, who starred for KAA Gent of Belgium before joining Bursaspor early this year, said he was happy to welcome a baby boy into his family on Tuesday.
After playing at youth level in England for Fulham and Tottenham, Troost-Ekong began his senior career in Holland with FC Groningen and later joined FC Dordrecht.
Despite being linked abroad with transfers to Celtic among others, he signed for Belgian club KAA Gent in July 2015, immediately joining Norwegian club FK Haugesund on loan.
In July 2017, he signed for Bursaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig, and has over 31 matches for the side, with two goals to his credit.
Prior to the birth of the baby, the former Netherlands U20 ace had revealed that he is very committed to his partner adding that she is has been a pillar of support for him.
The pair, who have been dating for about five years, made public the pregnancy prior to the FIFA World Cup in Russia, as Troost-Ekong put a football under his jersey to celebrate his first Super Eagles goal against DR Congo in Port Harcourt.
He took to Twitter to post a photograph of himself cuddling the baby, who sleeps with a smile on his face and peacefully, with the caption: “Our beautiful boy Oscar Ekong.”
