William Troost-Ekong earned his first victory in the Saudi Pro League after Al Kholood’s gritty 1-0 win over Odion Ighalo’s Al Wehda on Thursday night.
The Super Eagles captain, who joined Al Kholood from Greek side PAOK this summer, had struggled in his first three games with two losses and one draw.
However, in this match, Troost-Ekong played locked down his international teammate, Ighalo, who was seeking his second goal of the season.
The breakthrough came in the 60th minute when Spanish forward Álex Collado scored the only goal of the match.
Troost-Ekong earned his Al Kholood first clean sheet and lifted them out of the relegation zone.
