Troost-Ekong States ‘Mission To Qualify’ For AFCON 2019

Udinese of Italy defender, William Troost-Ekong has unfolded what footballlive.ng learnt he tags the Super Eagles ‘Mission To Qualify’ for next year’s Africa Cup of nations.

Speaking of his plans for Saturday’s third match in the qualifiers for AFCON 2019 in Cameroon, Troost-Ekong said he and his teammates in the Eagles are condemned to win in Uyo and wrap up another victory in the second leg to be played in Sfax, Tunisia.

The former Haugesund of Norway, KAA Gent of Belgium and Bursaspor of Turkey stopper said all the Eagles’ players do not want a repeat of the setbacks that saw Nigeria fail to qualify for the past two AFCON events.

Troost-Ekong declared that the task before them now is to give their ‘mission’ another step forward by snatching victory at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Saturday.

Although he admitted that Libya will be tough, Troost-Ekong stressed that he is very is confident that the Eagles will clinch all three points.

He said: “Our mission is to qualify for AFCON 2019 in Cameroon. I know it will not be easy, because other teams also want to quality. That’s why we must beat Libya on Saturday.

“It will be very tough, but we are one of the best teams in Africa now, and any opponent will bring their A-game to face us.

“We will prepare the same way as we did for the double-header against Cameroon last year, as this is of the same importance.”
