Udinese of Italy defender, William Troost-Ekong is in a race against time to be declared fit for Sunday’s Serie A battle with AS Torino, but the Super Eagles stopper appears eager to make the squad.
Udinese will be at home against the club of fellow-Nigeria and also injured defender, Ola Aina, who appears doubtful for the game, but Troost-Ekong has stepped up his efforts in his ongoing recovery process.
Troost-Ekong may be available for selection as he is showing signs of improvement after a muscle injury ruled him out of joining Nigeria’s trip to Seychelles.
Aina is doubtful to make his fourth appearance in the Italian top-flight when Torino travel to Udine to face Troost-Ekong’s side in their first game after the international break.
On the same day that the Eagles claimed an easy 3-0 win over Seychelles in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Aina was undergoing treatments and therefore is unlikely to recover.
It means Torino gaffer, Walter Mazzarri will not be able to count on the services of Aina for the next game.
