Fenerbache and Super Eagles’ defender, Bright Osayi Samuel has relived his AFCON experience. The 26 year old was a member of the Nigerian team that made it to the final in Cote d’Ivoire.

The defender highlighted that the AFCON was his first tournament for the country, and he enjoyed every bit of the competition. He then added that he wouldn’t have believed if someone had told him how the AFCON would go, adding that he was a bit disappointed that Nigeria did not win the tournament.

In his exact words, Osayi said:

“It was amazing, it was my first competitive tournament for my country, my first AFCON and we reached the final. If someone told me that at the start, I wouldn’t believe. So, I loved every single minute, I think day by day, there was something to laugh about, something that just made it so African”.

“And the experiences like that was great. I think what it means for us that we could have won. Because of course, winning the AFCON is something that you love. So yeah, I was disappointed, but at the same time, it was great to be in the final. And I enjoyed every single minute”.
