Flying Eagles midfielder, Divine Oliseh has reflected on his experience at the recently concluded U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), describing it as a major step forward in his development as a footballer.
In an interview with Brila.net, Oliseh admitted that the tournament—his first international outing—was both nerve-wracking and transformative, allowing him to grow with each game played.
“For me, I learnt a lot of things, especially the experience.”
”This is my first time going for a big outing like that, so at the beginning I was a little bit jittery, but I thank God I was able to overcome it all.”
”I feel good now, I’m happy,” he said.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who featured prominently for Nigeria at the tournament, said his confidence improved as the competition progressed.
“I learnt a lot of things in the competition that helped me game by game, so I think I’m better off now.”
Looking ahead, Divine Oliseh stated his desire to keep improving, particularly in front of goal.
“For me, I want to score more goals, because the competition that just ended, I had so many opportunities to play.”
”Sometimes I missed it, and I was pained, but I didn’t give up.”
“I’ll try to come back to my best, and then I can do that.”
