Ahead of the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations third round fixture between Nigeria’s Flying Eagles and the Amajitas of South Africa on Saturday, Head coach Thabo Senong has stated that the team’s focus remains the same which is to win every game they go into irrespective of the team they face.
South Africa and Nigeria both booked their 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland ticked from group A of the AFCON in Niger where they played a goalless in their second game of the competition.
Sesong at the pre-match press conference insists that the game will be given the importance of a final and also the satisfaction of beating Nigeria; “For us every game is important we approach every game with the same mentality which is to win every game. This is another opportunity for our player and for us as a team to try and win”
With Senegal and Mali playing in the final of the championships, the U-20 AFCON will have a new winner. Senegal will be hoping to be third time lucky after they lost the final of the last two editions, first to Nigeria in 2015 and to Zambia, in the 2017 edition while Mali was last seen in the final in 1989 when they lost 4 – 1 on aggregate to Nigeria.
