FC Ifeanyi Ubah goalkeeper Alozie Chinedu is confident he will make the final cut for the invited players to the camp of the national U-23 team, stating that he has a lot to add to the squad as the current best goalkeeper in the league.
Alozie was one of the three FC Ifeanyi Ubah players invited to camp by head coach Imama Amakapabo and has revealed to footballlive.ng that he was not surprised by the call up. “I was really happy about it. Thought I had my hopes high, I was expecting it and I was happy when I received the text that I have been invited to the national team.”
The race to be picked among players that will remain in camp is ongoing as more players are being dropped but Alozie insists that he will stay on as he is bringing a lot to the team in terms of exposure and experience. “Our team here (FCIU) no one believed in us when the season started and today we are here. I have the most clean sheet in the league and I believe that if I can do it here, I can still do it with the national team.
We are first here on the log and at the end of the day if I go to the national team by the grace of god we can still make the national team better with our quality.”
The shot stopper also insists that being away from the team will not affect the club as they have other capable hands to man the post. “I think being in the national team will not affect our chances of doing well in the league because as long as we are in Nigeria I think we will be allowed to join up with our team and play but moreover if we are outside the country and we have a match I believe the other goalkeepers we have can do the job perfectly. “
The three FC Ifeanyi Ubah players invited by the former Enugu Rangers gaffer include Captain Chijoke Alaekwe, Alozie Chinedu and Solomon Nsude.
