Ubong Ekpai almost ends Marcelo’s Career, Real Madrid Fans Wail

Date:

Real Madrid fans world over surely didn’t sleep well and are sweating – those who can pray are already on their knees – over Marcelo’s injury on Tuesday night in the UEFA Champions League match against Viktoria Plzen, no thanks to Ubong Moses Ekpai.

Ekpai is the one name Madridistas don’t want to hear – the morning after – after the Plzen substitute lunged into Marcelo late on in the Champions league match at the Bernabeu.

The Brazilian who had only just returned from injury, could not continue play and was strapped up with ice packs, as he looked visibly in discomfort and teary eyed.

In his post match presser, the under-fire Real Madrid Manager, Julen Lopetegui expressed concerns over the player’s availability for this Weekend’s El Clasico.

“We must wait and see. It seems to be an impact injury, from a very hard blow, not a muscle problem. I hope we can have him on Sunday,” he told the media after Los Blancos’ 2-1 win.

One of Madrid’s best players on the night and the most part of the season, Marcelo’s injury is a source of concern for the fans; never mind reports linking him with a move to Juventus.

The player himself said, “For me, as somebody who has been through a tough injury, a scenario went through my mind and I was scared to fall awkwardly and break down again.”

Several fans were in utter angst at the Manager’s decision to keep the left back on the pitch long enough to suffer the ankle injury – clairvoyants.

The mob flooded social media with their most naked thoughts about the incident on Tuesday.
