Udinese of Italy have confirmed that their summer signing from Bursaspor of Turkey, William Troost-Ekong will not be available to play for Nigeria in Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles.
Barely 12 hours after Troost-Ekong fired a charge for the Eagles to go all out for victory in Victoria and put their AFCON 2019 target back on track, his Serie A club officially informed Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that the defender has a muscle strain.
Udinese disclosed that Troost-Ekong got injured in their 1-0 away loss to Fiorentina, but he still went on to feature for the entire duration of the match at Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Udinese’s technical maanger, Daniele Pradè thanked Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for allowing the defender to remain in Udine, and is optimistic he would have fully recovered before they face Torino on September 15.
