SV Mai9nz of Germany recent signing, Anthony Ujah has received encouraging words from the club’s coach, Sandro Schwarz, as the gaffer believes having the former Super Eagles striker in the squad will give them more bite in the second half of the season.
Schwarz affirmed that the signing of Ujah and Dutch star, Nigel De Jong has brought a tougher level of competition into the squad.
Ujah returned to Mainz from Chinese Super League club Liaoning Hongyun in the January transfer window on a three-and-half year contract until 2021.
He first signed for Mainz in 2012 before departing for Cologne in 2015.Since his return to Mainz, he has made two Bundesliga appearances without a goal yet.
Speaking in his press conference on Thursday, ahead of their Bundesliga home clash against champions Bayern Munich on Saturday, Schwarz however expressed satisfaction with the make-up of his squad.
“The squad size is just right at the minute. There’s a lot of competition for places, especially with Ujah and De Jong now in the mix,” Schwarz said.
