SV Mainz of Germany striker, Anthony Ujah was on song for the Bundesliga club in their first preseason friendly at the weekend, while ex-FC Mydjttiland of Denmark midfielder, Sylvester Emeka Igbonu also struck one for FC Ufa of Russia.
Ujah and another Nigerian player, Karim Onisiwo both hit target for Mainz, as the team began their preseason schedule with a 12-0 demolition of DJK-SV Phoenix Schifferstadt.
Ujah, who played only the first half, made it 4-0 five minutes before the intermission, and second half substitute Karim Onisiwo scored in the 78th minute to give Mainz a 10-0 lead.
Igbonu hit the bull’s eye for Ufa in their second match at their pre-season camp in Austria, beating Romanian club CS Universitatea Craiova 3-2.
After netting the winner for his side in the 90th minute, Igbonu is now looking to make hay again when they face last season’s Europa League semi-finalists, Red Bull Salzburg in their next friendly on Wednesday.
