It was a case of bench warming last weekend for the Germany-based duo of Anthony Ujah and Victor Osimhen, as well as Omatsone ‘Sone’ Aluko in England, but Efe Ambrose was in 90 minutes of action and helped his side to victory in Scotland.
In Germany, SV Mainz 05 striker, Ujah was an unused substitute, as his side lost 2-0 at home to Bayern Munich, while his compatriot, Leon Aderemi Balogun was not listed in the squad.
Balogun has made nine appearances in all competition while Ujah, who is in his second spell at the club, has made one substitute appearance.
Same evening in Germany, Osimhen was benched for all 90 minutes in VfL Wolfsburg’s 1-1 draw at home to VfB Stuttgart.
In the English Championship, Ola Aina played all 90 minutes for Hull City, but The Tigers lost 2-1 away to Preston North End.
The game was Aina’s 27th appearance in the English Championship this season, but it was a different case in the same division for Aluko, who has made 28 appearances, scoring one goal and providing four assists for Reading.
Last weekend, however, did not see Aluko add to those figures, as he watched from the substitutes’ bench, as Reading suffered a 2-0 loss to Millwall.
In Italy, Joel Chukwuma Obi made his 10th start (15th appearance) for Torino who played a 1-1 draw away to Sampdoria.
In Holland, Tyronne Ebuehi, who has two assists so far this season, played his 20th Eredivisie game for ADO Den Haag in a 1-1 draw away at Heracles.
In Scotland, Chidiebere Nwakali went on for Aberdeen in place of Gary Mackay-Steven in the 64th minute, as The Dons defeated Hamilton Academicals 3-0 in the Scottish Premiership.
It was his second substitute appearance since joining the club on a six months loan from Manchester City.
Also in Scotland last weekend, Ambrose was instrumental to Hibernian recording a 2-1 win away at Rangers; as he got his 26th appearance for The Hibs this season in the Scottish Premiership.
