Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has been dropped by Arsenal manager Unai Emery ahead of the teams UEFA Europa league clash away to Vorskla Poltava on Thursday while Bukayo Saka has been called up to the squad for the match.
The gunners are already through to the round of 32 of the competition winning three games and one draw and tops Group E on ten points followed closely by Sporting Lisbon on seven points, Vorskla Poltava on three points and Qarabak on three points.
With qualification in hand Emery decided not to travel with the bulk of his star players also giving space to the club’s academy players to show their talents. Aside Alex Iwobi other top stars rested ahead of the game include: Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil, Lucas Torreira, Bernd Leno, Granit Xhaka, Hector Bellerin, Shakodran Mustafi, and others.
The academy players called up for the match include. Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Joe Willock, ZackMedly, Dominic Thompson, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Emile Smith Rowe etc. The official line up for the game is due to be released 75 minutes to the game.
Alex Iwobi has been an integral part of Emery’s reign at the club, having been capped 10 times this season in the Premier League.
