Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, remains hopeful about his team’s chances of securing a continental spot after a 1-0 defeat to Rivers United on Sunday.
The loss has made it more challenging for the Oluyole Warriors to claim the third spot, which would ensure qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
Currently, Shooting Stars are in fourth place with 57 points, just two points behind Remo Stars, who occupy the crucial third position. With three games remaining in the season, Ogunbote is confident his team can still achieve their goal.
“Well, we have two home games and one away game left, just like every other team. The important thing is, until it is over, it is not over,” Ogunbote told the club’s media. “We will go back home, regroup, and see what we can achieve in the remaining matches. Bouncing back would be great for us.”
Shooting Stars will face their old rivals, Rangers, at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Wednesday.
