Chelsea youngster, Tariq Uwakwe got one of the goals that helped The Blues’ youth team take a nine-point lead over Arsenal at the top of the U18 Premier League table after thrashing Swansea City 5-1 at Cobham Training Centre on Friday afternoon.
Uwakwe opened his account for the season against West Ham in November and the versatile midfielder has now tallied nine league goals for the U18s since his debut.
The Young Blues were without the exciting midfielder Faustino Anjorin who has been invited to the England U17 squad for the upcoming Algarve Tournament in Portugal, but Uwakwe returned to the starting line-up having been omitted from the team that faced Norwich City on January 20.
Chelsea established a two-goal lead after 27 minutes, with Charlie Brown and Conor Gallagher finding the net, after which Uwakwe fired home to extend the lead before Guehi ended the game as a contest with a fourth goal for the home team a minute before the interval.
Cooper grabbed a consolation goal for the Swans on 52 minutes before Marcel Lewis re-established Chelsea’s four-goal lead with six minutes left on the clock.
