Uzoho out for four weeks

Date:

Super Eagles and Elche goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho has been ruled out for four weeks after it was confirmed that the shot stopper fractured his seventh costal arch in his team’s 5 – 1 loss away at Cadiz in the Spanish second division over the weekend.

With the injury the former Nigeria U-17 goalkeeper has been ruled out of Nigeria’s 2019 crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa on Saturday November 17 at the FMB stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa and the international friendly against the Cranes of Uganda at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba.

Elche in a statement through the club’s official twitter handle confirmed the medical report and that Uzoho will be out for at least four weeks. “The tests carried out today in the Tesla clinic determine that the footballer Francis Uzoho presents a fracture of the seventh costal arch. Estimated time of Low: four weeks.”

Uzoho on his official twitter handle also confirmed the injury stating that he is sure of coming back stronger. “Injury is part of the game, definitely not the best timing but there are things beyond us. So sad I won’t be there for my teammates for the next 4 weeks they’re more than capable to get the job done coming back a beast.”

Uzoho’s absence for the Super Eagles has ensured a call up for in form veteran Enyimba International goalkeeper Theophilus Afalokhai who will join up with fellow club team mate Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Chippa United of South Africa goalie Daniel Akpeyi for the games.
