Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Alloy Agu has stated that the senior national team will not falter due to the injury to number one Francis Uzoho who has been ruled out for at least four weeks after featuring in his club’s 5-1 defeat against Cadiz.
Uzoho sustained the injury in Elche’s 5-1 crushing defeat to Cadiz in the Spanish Segunda Division last weekend.
Agu speaking in a chat with footballlive.ng said that Enyimba goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai will fill the void left by Uzoho’s ahead of the crucial Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against South Africa as well as the international friendly with Cranes of Uganda.
“It’s a huge loss to the senior national side. Francis Uzoho is the number one keeper of the Super Eagles. His injury is a setback to our next two games,” Alloy Agu told Footballlive.ng
“We at the national team wish him speedy and quick recovery. He will comeback stronger and better.”
“The technical crew has decided to replace Uzoho with Theophilus Afelokhai who performed well for Enyimba at the CAF Confederation Cup,” he confirmed.
“There is no cause for alarm. Theophilus will join up with Daniel Akpeyi and Ikechukwu Ezenwa for the two games against South Africa and Uganda.”
