After his unceremonious exit from KAA Gent of Belgium, Moses Simon has found a very instant lifeline coming his way at Valencia of Spain.
Valencia would be remembered as the team that gave Nigerian-born Spain former youth international, Sunday Stephen (Sunny) his breakthrough, and they now appear to follow suit with Simon.
This is sequel to reports that emerged from The Land of the Armada at the weekend that the 23-year-old Simon, who missed the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia due to injury, has received a mouth-watering offer from Los Che, barely 72 hours after he was released by Gent, despite having a year remaining in his contract.
Simon is now expected to seal the deal with Levante in the next few days, which would be a double celebration for the former GBS Academy product, who celebrated the birth of his daughter on Friday.
The crafty winger featured 29 times for Gent last season, during which he scored six goals and provided three assists.
A close confidante of the winger also disclosed that Simon also had an offer from France, as St. Etienne made a late bid to snatch him, but the lad settled for Spain’s better scene.
The source said: “Simon will sign for Levante next week. He had to stay behind to be with his wife who gave birth to their first child yesterday in Belgium.
“St. Etienne were keen on him but a move to Levante ticks the right boxes at this stage of his career after the disappointments of missing out on a deal to Liverpool and Mainz 05.
“The lure of playing in the LaLiga was what swayed him to agree to join Levante. Barring any late change of plans he will arrive Spain to sign a four year deal with Levante.”
