Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen returned to action in style, assisting in Galatasaray’s 3-1 win over fierce rivals Fenerbahce in the Intercontinental derby on Saturday.
Having missed Galatasaray’s midweek clash over Gaziantep, Osimhen was back in the lineup for the highly anticipated Turkish Super Lig clash between the two Istanbul giants.
The reigning Super Lig champions, Galatasaray, outclassed Fenerbahce, extending their impressive form this season.
Galatasaray took the lead with goals from Gabriel Sara and Dries Mertens, the latter set up beautifully by Osimhen.
An own goal from Fenerbahce goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic sealed the victory, with Fenerbahce managing only a consolation goal.
Following the match, Victor Osimhen took to social media to thank the fans for their unwavering support.
“Yesterday’s win wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of Galatasaray fans around the world. Your cheers gave us the strength to fight.”
“You are no just fans in the stands; you are a big part of this team. Thank you for believing in us. We walk together.”
The victory aids Galatasaray’s title defense campaign, with their next challenge coming in the Europa League against PAOK on Wednesday.
