Victor Osimhen Becomes Turkish Super Lig’s Most Valuable Player

Date:

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has been named the most valuable player to ever join the Turkish Super Lig, with a market valuation of €100 million—€70 million more than the league’s second-highest valued player, Nicolò Zaniolo.

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli last summer, has justified his high valuation with 19 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for the Turkish giants.

According to Transfermarkt, his value significantly surpasses that of previous high-profile arrivals, including Zaniolo (€30m), Jean Michael Seri (€25m), Steven Nzonzi (€23m), Mauro Icardi (€22m), and Wilfried Zaha (€22m).

Meanwhile, the Nigerian striker could be set for another major transfer this summer, with both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly submitting verbal offers to trigger his €75m release clause, which becomes active when the summer window opens.

Turkish journalist, Yagiz Sabuncuoglu revealed that Napoli has reached an agreement with both clubs, with Osimhen also negotiating with a top management agency facilitated by a Real Madrid player. This development makes it unlikely that Galatasaray will retain him beyond June.

Manchester United’s new manager, Ruben Amorim, has identified Victor Osimhen as his primary target to strengthen their attack, given the struggles of Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee in adapting to the Premier League.

United’s football department, led by Jason Wilcox, is exploring a potential player-exchange deal, though Napoli prefers a straight cash transfer.

Osimhen’s form remains unaffected by transfer speculation, maintaining the same efficiency that saw him lead Napoli to the 2022/23 Serie A title as the league’s top scorer and finish eighth in the 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings.

PSG, seeking to replace Randal Kolo Muani, sees Osimhen as a perfect fit for their attack, while United’s interest stems from their desire to rebuild under Amorim.

Both clubs offer different career trajectories—PSG guarantees Champions League football and domestic dominance, while United presents the challenge of leading a resurgence in England.

With his €100m valuation setting a new benchmark in Turkish football, the coming months will determine whether Victor Osimhen continues his dominance in the Super Lig or makes another high-profile move to one of Europe’s elite leagues.
