Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen believes the score is settled after Nigeria defeated Benin Republic 3-0 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Analysing the game, Osimhen is pleased Nigeria got “revenge” against Benin, following their 2-1 loss to the same side during the World Cup qualifier in June under former coach Finidi George.
“It was really a big game for us; it was a statement win because our performance has been so low in the past couple of games, compared to the talent that we have got in the team,” Osimhen said during an interview.
A goal from Victor Osimhen and two from Ademola Lookman secured the win, making up for the previous defeat.
“The last time we met our opponent [Benin], they defeated us so it was also like revenge and I’m happy; we gave our all and got the three points,” Osimhen added.
The Super Eagles will now look ahead to their next qualifier as they face Rwanda with the momentum of extending their winning streak.
