Victor Osimhen Hits Back: Super Eagles Star Sues Turkish Journalist for Defamation

Date:

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has initiated legal proceedings against Turkish journalist Tolga Bozduman, who accused the Galatasaray forward of assaulting him two weeks ago.

The controversy erupted after Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw against Dynamo Kyiv, with Bozduman claiming the incident occurred when he attempted to photograph the Nigerian international.

Osimhen, who has been in exceptional form since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer, has vehemently denied the allegations.

The 26-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided five assists in 21 appearances, spearheading Galatasaray’s campaigns in the Turkish Super Lig and UEFA Europa League.

The Allegations and Osimhen’s Response

Bozduman alleged that Osimhen physically assaulted him after the Dynamo Kyiv match. However, the striker has categorically dismissed the claims, calling them baseless.

“I didn’t hit the journalist; they are lying,” Osimhen said in a video quoted by Pesindeyiz Galatasaray.

“Why are you flashing your face? You have to ask permission for an interview. I told them they had to delete my photos. If I wanted to hit them, I would have.”

The incident has been a hot topic in Turkey and beyond, with widespread debate about the conduct of both parties.

Osimhen added, “If I hit him, he’s going to get justice, and if he lied, he’s going to get the wrath of the law.”

Legal Action for Defamation

In a twist of events, Nigerian radio host Buchi Laba revealed that Osimhen has taken legal action against Bozduman for defamation.

The hearing is scheduled to commence on Monday, signaling Osimhen’s intent to clear his name.

The striker’s decision to sue comes after he humorously mocked the controversy during Galatasaray’s recent match against Konyaspor, where he struck a memorable pose after scoring.

Osimhen later shared the moment on his social media platforms, adding fuel to the debate.

The hearing is expected to set the tone for how this high-profile controversy unfolds. For Osimhen, the stakes are high as he seeks to protect his reputation while continuing to excel on the pitch.

As the striker has stated, justice will prevail, whether for him or the journalist, depending on the court’s findings.

With 16 goals, five assists, and a relentless drive to succeed, Victor Osimhen remains focused on his career while ensuring that off-field distractions do not derail his progress.

For now, all eyes will be on the courtroom as the football star takes a stand against what he calls unfounded allegations.
