Senegal’s Lamine Camara experienced heartbreaking scenes reminiscent of The Bodyguard as he was carried off the pitch in tears following Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations exit against Ivory Coast.
The 20-year-old and his teammates were eliminated on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Camara, who plays for Metz, was visibly distraught, crying for about ten minutes on the pitch. Nottingham Forest’s Cheikhou Kouyate, who left the tournament earlier to attend his father’s funeral, showed great character by carrying the emotional Camara off the field, evoking memories of a scene from The Bodyguard.
