Former Super Eagles goalkeeper and captain, Vincent Enyeama, proudly announced that his son has signed his first professional contract with Lille’s U18 team.
Enyeama shared the news on his Facebook page, expressing his joy: “God is the greatest. Home sweet home. Back home in a different skin.”
Enyeama himself has a storied history with Lille, having debuted for the club on 18 October 2011 against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League.
After a loan to Maccabi Tel Aviv, he returned to Lille in August 2012, playing a key role in the team’s defense.
During the 2013–14 Ligue 1 season, Enyeama was the first-choice goalkeeper under manager René Girard, forming a formidable defense with Sidibé, Kjær, Basa, and Béria.
He almost broke Gaëtan Huard’s record of 1,176 minutes without conceding a goal, achieving 1,062 minutes before conceding against Bordeaux on 8 December 2013.
Vincent Enyeama kept clean sheets in 11 consecutive matches against teams like Sochaux, Lyon, Monaco, and Marseille.
He rejoined Lille’s first-team training in July 2018 and parted ways with the club by mutual consent on 31 August 2018.
