Bayer Leverkusen’s Nathan Tella has shared his thoughts on the team’s hard-fought 1-1 draw against West Ham United, securing their spot in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals with a 3-1 aggregate scoreline.
The newly crowned Bundesliga champions rallied in the second half after they went 1-0 behind in the first half, thereby extending their unbeaten streak to 44 games across all competitions this season.
“We knew it would be a difficult place to come. In the first half, we did not play our best football, but we knew that we had to stick to our principles,” Tella stated in a post-match interview.
“The manager said a bit at half-time to get us going again, and the second half was a different performance. We were able to get through, Jeremie scored the goal, and thankfully, we are through.”
Looking ahead, Leverkusen is set to face AS Roma in the semi-final of the Europa League, poised to continue their impressive campaign in pursuit of Treble glory.
