“We must be aggressive…” Says Oluehi

Date:

Super Falcons goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi, has stressed the importance of adopting an aggressive approach in their upcoming clash against the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

As Randy Waldrum’s side vies for a spot at the 2024 Olympic Games, they face the task of overcoming the current African champions to secure their place in the women’s football event for the first time in 16 years.

Oluehi highlighted the need for the Super Falcons to take control of the game from the outset and maintain intensity until the final whistle. She emphasized the importance of unity within the team, urging every player to fight for one another and support each other throughout the match.

In an interview with ESPN, Oluehi emphasized the need to prevent South Africa from dictating the tempo of the game, recalling their previous encounters where allowing Banyana Banyana to dictate play proved costly for the Super Falcons.

“We just have to be aggressive,” Oluehi asserted. “Take the bull by the horns, from the start to the finish. We have to be at our best. Everyone must fight for each other, everyone must help each other.”

She continued, “We can’t relax and let them play. I remember at WAFCON in Morocco, what cost us against them was because we allowed them to play their game. It was in the second half that we stepped up our game but by then it was too late for us to come back. We can’t let that happen again, so we have to take the fight to them.”

Oluehi’s remarks underscore the Super Falcons’ determination to secure qualification for the Olympic Games by adopting a proactive and aggressive approach against their formidable opponents, Banyana Banyana.
