Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka has shared his thoughts on their 3-0 loss to Atalanta in the Europa League final on Wednesday night.
Ademola Lookman’s historic hat-trick secured the victory for the Serie A team, marking only the second trophy in Atalanta’s history and ending Leverkusen’s impressive 51-game unbeaten run.
Granit Xhaka dismissed concerns about the unbeaten streak, saying, “Honestly, we’re not interested in the unbeaten record. We didn’t care about that from the start. It’s about the game and unfortunately we lost a final today. That’s football. We said yesterday that it would be a difficult game. Compliments to Atalanta.”
This marks the second Europa League final loss for Xhaka, who also experienced defeat in the 2019 final with Arsenal.
