Super Falcons top scorer at the ongoing Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana Asisat Oshoala has stated that the team’s main aim at the tournament has been achieved after the side booked their ticket to the World Cup in France from June 7 to July 7, 2019 but retaining the trophy won in Cameroon back in 2016 will he a bonus for their hard work.
The four time African footballer of the year award winner stated that nothing was more important to the team at the championship than winning a World Cup ticket. “Being the first team to qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Africa shows our stand as leaders on the continent and we always want to show that.
We already have the primary aim of attending this competition which is qualifying for the world cup, winning the championship on Saturday which is what we know we can do will be an added bonus for the hard work we put in.’
Oshoala has also taken time to salute the fans for their unflinching support since their arrival in Cape Coast before moving to Accra. “To the fans here and back home I want to say thanks for supporting us, we told them we won’t let them down and that we will pick the world cup ticket and we have done that so I want to say thank you and keep praying and supporting us.”
Oshoala is Nigeria’s top scorer at the tournament with three goals.
