Wikki Tourist Urge LMC To Announce League Kick-off

Date:

Wikki Tourist of Bauchi media officer, Nasiru Kobi has urged League Management Company (LMC) to come out with an exact date for the resumption of action int he Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

However, footballive.ng gathered further that Kobi admits that lingering controversy over promotions from the lower division are leaving everyone in suspense.

Consequently, Kobi disclosed that Wikki Tourists’ players have been put on alert that they might be called back from their Christmas holiday if the LMC fix a date next week.

Ironically, The Giant Elephants are one of the top flight teams to benefit from LMC’s decision not to relegate any team after the season was cut short with 14 matches remaining due to the congested fixture schedule.

In their bid for a better campaign once the season eventually begins, The Tourists have already signed on Ayo Asekunnowo, Adeshina Gata, Ahmed Jimoh and Franklin Ebuka.

Gata and Asekunnowo arrive from Akwa United of Uyo, while Jimoh and Ebuka are in from Kwara United and Akwa Starlets of Uyo respectively.

Wikki coach, Aliyu Zubairu said the decision sign these players was based on the departures of Oche  Edoh and Shammah Tanze.

Zubairu added: “We have brought in players that we know can help our cause and make us have an improved season than we had last season.

“They have been signed on the basis of what we saw of them during training sessions and in the league last season,”
