World Cup Ticket more important for Falcons than AWCON Title

Date:

Former Super Falcons Coach Chris Danjuma says the key targets for the team at the 2018 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations should be “to show class on the pitch and pick a world cup ticket.”

Nigeria are defending champions in Ghana and will kick off the campaign on November 18 with testy fixture against South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

Danjuma admits the Falcons are the team to beat and the players are all too aware of the stakes.

Although he expects them to go out and reclaim the championship, the former Falcons gaffer insists expectations must be tempered.

Whilst suing for caution over calls for Thomas Dennerby to win in Ghana, Danjuma argues that the team should be rated based on progress made since 2016 and not necessarily about whether they can defend the title.
