Enyimba new head coach, Yemi Olanrewaju is determined to make his tenure at the club a success.
Olanrewaju was recently appointed as the head coach of the two-time African champions on a one-year contract.
The 32-year-old at his official unveiling ceremony, says he understands the pressure that comes with managing one of Nigeria’s top football clubs and the challenges ahead.
Enyimba is currently ongoing a squad rebuild following the departure of seven key players at the end of last season.
“Coaching Enyimba is a high-pressure job. This is not my first year but my third year at the club. I understand what the fans want.” Olanrewaju said.
“We have good players and made some excellent signings. We are focused on integrating them quickly and efficiently. Nobody will listen to excuses; they only want results, and they want them as soon as possible,” he added.
“For the league, settling for second position is not acceptable. We are aiming for the top spot and will fight for it,” he declared, also emphasizing the importance of advancing to the group stages in the continental competition.
Enyimba ended the 2023/24 NPFL season second on the table and will be participating in the CAF Confederation Cup in the upcoming season.
Yemi Olanrewaju aims to not only win the 2024/25 NPFL title, he aims to qualify for the CAF Champions League.
