Former Super Falcons player Stella Mbachu has expressed her views on the team’s coaching situation and areas of development
In a recent interview on Brila FM, The former River Angels forward emphasized that the new coach must focus on improving the strikers’ goal-scoring abilities.
Mbachu noted, “All departments are not performing at their best, but they are trying.
However, the most significant area of concern is the attack. You win games by scoring, and during the Olympics, the team played well but struggled to finish their chances. That’s where the real work lies.”
She also called for an indigenous coach to take over following Randy Waldrum’s resignation.
Mbachu highlighted the success of Nigerian coaches like Eucharia Uche and Florence Omagbemi, who have led the Falcons to glory, including victories in the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
“I haven’t seen what foreign coaches have achieved that indigenous coaches haven’t.
There’s no significant difference. There is nothing special or spectacular about the foreign coaches.
I prefer a local coach, but ultimately, it’s up to the federation to decide who they want to hire,” she concluded.
