The Golden Eaglets kicked off their preparations for the WAFU U-17 Championship with their first training session at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch in Abuja on Thursday. However, the session saw hundreds of youngsters being sent away, as head coach Manu Garba is fully focused on working with the 51 players he invited to camp.
According to reports, most of the invited players have already undergone the mandatory MRI test and are deemed eligible to participate in the WAFU tournament.
The championship, scheduled to be hosted by Ghana from May 15, will see the Golden Eaglets defend their title after their victory against Burkina Faso in the final, two years ago.
The WAFU tournament holds additional significance as it serves as a qualifier for the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
With preparations underway and the squad taking shape, expectations are high as the Golden Eaglets aim to continue their success on the continental stage.
