Zola hails the performance of Nigerian born youngster

Date:

Chelsea assistant coach Gianfranco Zola has praised the contribution of Fikayo Tomori in the Carabao Cup 3-2 victory over Derby County on Wednesday night.

Tomori who is on a season long loan to Derby County from Chelsea put up a good shift against his parent club.

The Nigerian born player put through his own net yet still impressed in the five-goal thriller.

“He was unlucky with the own-goal but the performance he put in was excellent, so he shouldn’t feel bad, it happens. It was an excellent cross from Zappacosta and if he wasn’t there Morata would have scored. He played well.

Tomori, who is an Under 20 World Cup with England is highly rated by the Chelsea management and is tipped to make a mark in his career.

Football fans in Nigeria will be hoping that Tomori commits his international future to the Super Eagles.
