Another Nigerian Helps Arsenal Beat Liverpool

Date:

Arsenal youth team winger, Bukayo Saka made a world of difference for The Gunners’ under-23 squad, as his efforts and a goal helped them to victory against Liverpool in the English Premier League 2.

Saka was on from the start for The Gunners in the encounter, during which footballlive.ng noted that his runs down the flanks and crosses into the danger zone proved a handful for The Reds.

Saka’s tremendous performance saw him rate higher than fellow-Nigerian-born youngster, Bobby Adekanye, who featured for the visitors from Meryseside.

On all cards, Saka outshone Adekanye, as The Gunners romped to a 4-0 win at Meadow Park on Friday evening.

Saka caused Liverpool a lot of problems with his ability to cross the ball and capped off a fine individual display with his first goal for Arsenal’s under-23 team.

Liverpool were dominant in the opening minutes, but Arsenal took the lead against the run of play when Saka finished aplomb into the bottom corner.

Saka made hay in the 22nd minute, after he was set up by Eddie Nketiah, who doubled the home team’s advantage, scoring from close range three minutes later.

Saka then provided the assist for Arsenal’s third goal scored by Willock before Nketiah got his brace two minutes into stoppage time off an assist from Nigerian defender, Joseph Olowu.

Three other players of Nigerian descent, Tobi Omole, James Olayinka and Tolaji Bola, also starred for Arsenal against their opponents from Merseyside.
