Eagles standby call up excites Kano Pillars star

Date:

Kano Pillars striker, Nyima Nwagua says he is excited about receiving invitation to the national team as Nigeria prepares to face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match on the 17th of November in Johannesburg and a friendly against Uganda in Asaba three days later.

Nwagua who scored the third goal for Kano Pillars in a dramatic Aiteo final loss to Enugu Rangers in Asaba was part of the five players listed on standby by Eagles coach Gernot Rohr. Others include Junior Lokosa of Kano Pillars, Sunday Adetunji of Enyimba, Henry Onyekuru and Chidozie Awaziem of FC Porto.

Reacting to the call up, the powerful striker said. “It’s an honor to be called upon to represent my country. Making the Super Eagles standby list for the games against South Africa and Uganda is a privilege.”

Possibilities of playing in the 2019 AFCON qualifier against South Africa in Johannesburg might be out of the card for the home based striker but he will be hoping to get a taste of the action three days later in a friendly scheduled for the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba against the cranes of Uganda.
