It is not a surprise that former Frankfurt, PSG, Fenerbahce, Bolton Wanderers and Hull City attacking midfielder Austin Jay-Jay Okocha has revealed his admiration for Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria legend was on a visit to South Africa last weekend as part of the Bundesliga Legends Tour, which saw him take part in a Facebook Q&A with Soccer Laduma readers.
In the session, one of the readers asked the ex Eagles skipper whom he admired between Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates and he was very sincere in his analysis.
“Well, for me, I love Sundowns,” he answered.
“I like the way they play. I don’t think it is a fluke that they call them ‘the Brazilians’, you know.
“They look like FC Barcelona of South Africa.”
Jay-Jay Okocha is a one time Africa Cup of Nations winner with Nigeria. He entertained German Bundesliga fans with deft mobility and skills during his stint with Frankfurt. He was also a toast of English Premier League supporters at Bolton Wanderers.
