Brighton Hove Albion of England defender, Leon Aderemi Balogun has downplayed the import of his super-sub goal against Crystal Palace, as he insists it was mostly due to backing from their fans and unity in the team, footballlive.ng reports.
Despite making history with his amazing strike, just 25 seconds after coming off the bench, Balogun chose instead to cite the fans fantastic support and special unity in the team for Tuesday’s 3-1 win.
The 30-year-old set a Premier League record with his maiden English Premier League goal after replacing Pascal Gross in the 31st minute.
Glenn Murray opened scoring at Amex Stadium from the penalty spot before Florin Andone sealed the win for the hosts with his effort in the added time of the first half.
Balogun took to social media to show his deep delight for his team’s performance, and singled out the fans’ support that helped The Seagulls grab their second win in a row.
He posted on Twitter: “Outstanding team performance! Not easy being down to 10 men, but your fantastic support from the stands made us compensate that!
