Eagles’ Young Players Will Fight To Win – Ndidi

Date:

Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has spoken out in strong support of the presence of several young players in Nigeria’s squad for the World Cup, as he believes they will have more hunger for victory and ready to fight for success.

Though some critics believe having the youngster squad ratio heading to Russia 2018 means Nigeria could face problems of inexperience, Ndidi insists youthfulness is an asset, rather than a defect.

Nigeria reached the knockout round in 1994, 1998 and 2014, but Ndidi believes they can go further this time out.

Ndidi, however, added that he hopes the Eagles win their first two Group D matches against Croatia and Iceland before a final showdown against Argentina on June 26.

He stressed: “We believed in our team and won a difficult qualifying group. We hope for a fantastic World Cup, we will like to have good results.

“We have young players, the youngest qualifiers for the World Cup, and they will like to fight, they like to win.

“It would be great to win our first two games before we face Argentina in our final group game.”
