Musa Amadu Leads NFF’s Advance Delegation To Russia

Date:

Former secretary-general of Nigeria Football Federation 9NFF), Barrister Musa Amadu will this weekend lead an advance delegation of the soccer governing body to the World Cup[ in Russia.

The delegation, which will play dual roles of supporting the Super Eagles as well as liaising with administrators from other countries and FIFA, will land in Russia before the main team.

However, further reports about the NFF’s plans for the Mundial reveal that the body’s official contingent will be stationed at Saint Petersburg, far from the Eagles’base camp in Essentuki so as not to disturb the team.

Essentuki is in the south of Russia, closer to Georgia and it is almost 2,000 kilometres from Saint Petersburg, Russia’s second biggest city, which will host the Eagles final Group D match against Argentina on June 26.

The advance contingent led by Amadu is due in Russia this weekend to ensure everything is in place for the Eagles, who open their game on June 16 against Croatia in Kaliningrad, Russia.

“The coach (Gernot Rohr) has asked he does not wish for any distraction and so the NFF plan to keep the country’s contingent as far away as possible from the team’s training camp,” an official disclosed.
