Ahead of his impending arrival at Galatasaray of Turkey, Henry Onyekuru has received fervid words of hope from the Istanbul-based club’s coach, Fatih Terim for the player’s success in the team.
Onyekuru is billed to leave RSC Anderlecht of Belgium this week, following an agreement reached between his parent club, Everton, and Gala, whose coach is already talking excitedly about the impact he expects from the player in the Turkish Super Lig.
This comes amidst reports that Galatasaray have won the race to land Onyekuru on loan from Everton, after the clubs and the player’s agent agreed on a fee for him in the region of €1.5m.
The 21-year-old former KAS Eupen of Belgium striker had initially offered to Gala’s rivals, Besiktas and Fenerbahce, but Terim is happy that his team were first to make an official bid.
Terim has already spoken openly about his plans for Onyekuru, who scored nine goals in 19 appearances for Anderlecht last season before sustaining a knee injury in December.
The coach said at the pre-season camp in Switzerland, where Onyekuru is expected to be unveiled, that he has been monitoring the lad for a long while, adding that the fleet-footed winger-cum-attacker is worth all the money and can be successful in Turkey.
Terim declared: “We have been keeping tabs on Onyekuru since January. I hope our new transfer is a success. Everyone will see that the transfer makes financial sense when the details are revealed.”
