Ahmed Musa marked his return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a brace, helping Kano Pillars secure a 2-0 victory over Sunshine Stars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.
Musa, who had been without a club since his contract with Sivasspor was terminated in February 2024, rejoined his former club Kano Pillars at the start of October.
The 31-year-old forward started his career at the club and also had a brief stint with them in 2021.
The former CSKA Moscow star, however, made an immediate impact on his debut.
Named in the starting lineup, Musa opened the scoring just four minutes into the game, capitalizing on a loose ball inside the box to fire home a powerful shot.
Kano Pillars continued to dominate the game and sealed the victory in the second half when Musa scored his second goal, placing a precise finish past Emmanuel Ofori, the Sunshine Stars goalkeeper.
Ahmed Musa had the chance to complete his hat-trick in the 70th minute, but his penalty struck the woodwork.
Nonetheless, his two goals were enough to secure the win for Kano Pillars as they finished the match 2-0.
