Ahmed Musa wins most memorable Volgograd performance award

Super Eagles forward Ahmed Musa beat England captain Harry Kane, Egyptian veteran goalkeeper Essam El Hadry and Poland’s Jan Bednarek to win the most memorable performance at Volgograd one of the venues of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Ahmed Musa scored two fantastic goals in Volgograd when Nigeria faced Iceland in the second group game winning the game 2 – 0. With his performance Musa won the poll conducted by FIFA on its official world cup handle where fans voted.

The Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia forward gathered 80% of the vote’s followed by England’s Harry Kane with 11%. Egyptian goal tender Essam Al Hadry got 7% of the votes while Jan Benarek’s performance got 2% of the votes.

Egyptian goalkeeper El Hadry made the list after a fantastic penalty save against Saudi Arabia in a game they lost 2 – 1 while England’s captain Harry Kane’s performance in their opening game against Tunisia where he scored a 91 minute goal to hand the three Lions the maximum three points was enough to get him into the most memorable list. Jan Benarek’s goal that handed Poland all three points against the Blue Samurai completed the top 4.

At the conclusion of the poll, the official FIFA World Cup twitter handle tweeted; “By a wide margin, you voted Ahmed Musa’s two goal performance for the Super Eagles as your favorite World Cup memory from Volgograd”.

Musa’s Super Eagles team mate and friend right back Shehu Abdullahi took to twitter to congratulate Nigeria’s top World Cup goal scorer. “Proud of you always @AhmedMusa718.”
