Nigerian footballer, Tolu Arokodare scored the equalizer as KRC Genk pulled a comeback against Raphael Onyedika’s Club Brugge in a scintillating Belgian league game. Club Brugge and Genk played out a 3-2 game, as Genk had to do it the hard way to get their first league win of the season.
Danish forward, Andreas Skov Olsen opened the scoring in the 45th minute by slotting the ball into the bottom corner, with Antonio Nusa splaying him through on goal. Skov Olsen was on hand once again on the hour mark to make it 2-0, this time converting a parried ball from Hans Vanaken’s initial shot.
With the scoreline at 2-0, Genk had a mountain to climb, and coach Thorsten Fink threw four players on the pitch to salvage the game, one of them being Nigeria’s Yira Sor.
The home side pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, as Jarne Steuckers scored from 12 yards. Tolu Arokodare got himself involved in the action, as he converted Jarne Steuckers’ cross from inside the 6-yard area to equalize the proceedings in the 83rd minute.
Raphael Onyedika was taken off from the Brugge setup in the 82nd minute, the midfielder suffered an injury and could not continue.
Patrik Hrosovsky completed the comeback in the 4th minute of 11 added minutes of stoppages after the regulation 90. The midfielder found himself with space outside the area, and did not hesistate before pulling the trigger, firing into the top corner.
This was Genk’s first win of the league season, and their first win in five games across all outings. They now find themselves in 9th place, will look to consolidate their form in their next game when they take on Beerschot.
Club Brugge are now winless in four games across all competitions, and will look to bounce back from 14th on the log in their next game against Royal Antwerp.
