Arsenal fans attack Alex Iwobi over dwindling form.

Date:

Super Eagles winger Alex Iwobi has been fingered by Arsenal fans as one of the reasons for the dip in form of the London gunners whose 22 match unbeaten run in all competition was put to an end by Southampton on Sunday and also losing to arch north London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.

Iwobi had hit scintillating form earlier in the season with eye catching performances in the Europa League before finally becoming a regular for the gunners I’m the Premier League and also receiving rave reviews for his showmanship and praise on how new boss Unai Emery had given him fresh confidence.

Iwobi has featured 14 times for the gunners this season in the premier league scoring once and providing three assists. And was in action for the gunners in both losses to Southampton in the EPL and Tottenham in the League Cup.

Reacting to Arsenal crashing out of the Carabao Cup some of the fans believe that Iwobi’s form has dipped and maybe he needs to be rested or loaned out. @davidjcarri tweeted. “I’m really tired of seeing Alex Iwobi kill attack after attack. Same, predictable movement & passes every single time. Still very much needs a loan to get better.”

@Afcpmg wrote “I honestly thought a few weeks ago Emery had turned Iwobi around. He’s not good enough unfortunately.” @Yvad_Cap also believes that Iwobi losing the ball in the match led to one of the goals scored by Tottenham. “Iwobi was the main cause of the goal because he just gave the ball straight to Gazzaniga for him to start the counter.”

While others castigated Iwobi’s performance some of the fans have also called for the name calling and scapegoating to stop. @afothings wrote. “Arsenal fans always looking for the “popular” scapegoat to slag for their team’s deficiencies. There have been worst players in the game than Iwobi.”
