FC Porto of Portugal defender, Chidozie Awaziem has declared himself fit enough to play for the Super Eagles against Liberia in Tuesday’s international friendly.
Despite bowing out of the Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles on Saturday, with an apparent twist to his ankle on the torrid pitch of Stade Linite, Awaziem says he has fully recovered.
Consequently, the fast-rising defender, who scored Nigeria’s second goal in Saturday’s 3-0 win said he is eager to justify his inclusion in the squad to face Liberia, whereas six of the players listed against Seychelles were withdrawn by the coach, Gernot Rohr.
The 21-year-old Awaziem, who played on loan from Porto to FC Nantes of France through last season, said he has recovered from the twist that forced him off in the 73rd minute against Seychelles.
He has also been cleared by the Eagles’ medical and Rohr subsequently included him in the squad to play against Liberia on Tuesday.
Awaziem, who went the distance in his previous four appearances for the Eagles against Togo, South Africa, Argentina and Serbia prior to the Seychelles game, will now aim to cement his place in the squad in the absence of several key players.
